Well we certainly
couldn’t have asked for a better day on Thursday 17th May when 9 of
us headed to Hollandbush for the annual Lesmahagow Ladies Curling Club Golf Day.
This allowed us to have three teams of three.
Our longest drive hole
was changed from the third to the ninth due to it not having a sloping fairway.
The winner of this was returning member Louise O’Donnelly (Jose and David Bells’
daughter). We are delighted to welcome her back after many years living in
Dubai. The weather was so good she thought she was back playing there and not
Coalburn!!
Nearest the pin was
played on the usual 13th hole – lucky for some! And the winner on
this hole was Margaret Levack.
The main overall
competition was won by Eileen Fleming. Eileen is now proudly displaying the
golf trophy on the mantlepiece!!
Congratulation to the
winners and well done to all those who took part.
We were joined by a
further 15 ladies in the evening and we enjoyed a lovely tea. Thank you to Hollandbush
Golf Club. Thanks also to Billy Marshall and Jim Padkin who were our official
judges, Billy also kindly took the photographs on the day.
If the good weather
was a good omen for the golf then I hope it continues for the forthcoming
curling season which is just around the corner.
Looking forward to
seeing you all in the Ice Rink soon.
