Galloway Trophy

The 'Lesmahagow Lovelies' have progressed to the next round of the Galloway Trophy after a hard fought battle against Douglas. The girls were one shot down going into the last end, managed to pull a shot back and won on ends up. Well done Margo Steele, Alison McRae, Amanda Stewart and Louise O'Donnelly. Good luck in the next round against Biggar on Thursday 28th February.

UNDERS AND OVERS COMPETITION

Dear All>>>>>Just a wee reminder that Lanarkshire Ice Rink are hosting the ( Ladies Branch  ) Scottish Curling  Unders & Overs Competition on Sunday 17th March 2019.   Cost £20 PP including Lunch , ice and (hopefully)home baking.
This competition consists of teams made up of 2 ladies with curling experience of less than 5 years and 2 curlers with over 5 years experience.  Age is not a factor .
I have put a notice up in the Ladies changing room.   Closing entry date is 19th February.  I have attached entry forms beside the notice.
Thanks to Catherine Morrison she has provided some names from the Virtual Curling Club.  These ladies all have under 5 years curling experience.
Please consider entering this competition.  >>>>>>>Please delete any name from the list if you are successful in contacting any ladies from the list so that they don't get bombarded with phone calls and emails.
This is a 1 day Bonspiel and the only other information I have is that ice booked from 10.00am session until 2.30 session..

Don't Forget to enter our postponed pairs competition on Friday 8th March
Cheers
Janis

If anyone would like to play in this and is worried about finding a team to play in please let me know and we will try and make up a couple of teams from Lesmahagow.  We would certainly introduce you to fellow Lanarkshire Ladies if not enough of our own ladies are available. Janis and the Ladies committee are putting rinks together from Lanarkshire. This is a lovely competition which allows inexperienced players to play against other curlers from other ice rinks but with the comfort of having more experienced players along side and enjoy the friendship of curling.

The final of the Ladies Pairs was played on 22nd November 2018.  Merle Tough and Rona McAlister took on Eileen Fleming and Alison McRae.

It was a very close game with good curling and great draw shots by both teams with Merle and Rona winning 7 - 6 to claim the title!

STRANRAER WEEKEND

Here's a pic of Jenni and Irene who were in the winning rink of the Grant's Whiskey weekend. They easily won their final.
Our other rink was Iain( skip) with me at 3rd, Jane Morton and Louise. We won one game and lost 2 each by one shot and one end but we had a good time and the people Charlie's rink beat in the final were the people who beat us by one shot this morning. If we'd won that game we'd have been through to semis too.
Have a good ladies' open. Louise is home in the bath trying to detox and rest up for her games tomorrow🀣

Thanks to Rona for this picture and report it sounds like a successful weekend was had by the 9 from Lesmahagow who went down to Stranraer!
Congratulations to the winners! The Allan and Murray households will be awash with whisky!

25 January 2019

Due to the  Biggar and Upper Clydesdale President's Cup, into which our Club has been asked to put an entry, being on the 21st February, the GAME ON THURSDAY 21ST has now had to be changed to FRIDAY 22ND FEBRUARY at 12.15 pm.  As I am away at Stranraer playing in the Henderson Bishop on the 28th February,  the AGM will follow this rearranged game at 3pm on 22nd February.

Please note that the last game of the league will still be played on 28th February at 12.15

I hope this does not cause too many problems and I apologise for the inconvenience of changing his but it is the only way to accommodate everything.

Thank you, Alison

Price £108 per team. This includes tea/coffee shortbread etc on arrival plus usual lunch of Soup/ Sandwiches.

LADIES PAIRS

πŸ†FINALπŸ†

The final of the Ladies Pairs competition took place today 22nd November. Merle Tough and Rona McAlister played Eileen Fleming and Alison McRae in what was a very good game with lots of excellent shots played by both teams. Eileen and Alison went into the last end 3 shots down but Eileen held her nerve and drew her last shot in to win a three and put the game into an extra end! Again lots of high quality shots were played by both teams but in the end it was Merle and Rona who came out victorious!

Congratulations to Merle and Rona and well done to Eileen and Alison for making it a well contested and entertaining game to watch. Thank you to the spectators who came down to cheer on the finalists.

Thank you to all who took part in the Pairs and those who stood in as substitutes and helped keep the competition going!
