Today we played the final games for the Lamb Trophy. 3 teams were in contention. Rebecca's rink completed their games last week and were on 8 points. Both Isobel Haddow's rink and Anne Ramsay's rink were also on 8 points but had one more game to play.
After a slow start, Isobel's rink finished 5-5 in the game against Ali Taylor's rink, but the single point, taking them to a total of 9, wasn't enough to win the league because Anne Ramsay beat Margaret Levack's rink 9-5 to end up with 10 points.
Congratulations go to our winners: Anne Ramsay, Merle Tough, Vera Anderson and Rosemary Lake
A good start for Rosemary who is a new member who agreed to play in Anne's rink when Elizabeth Miller had to withdraw before the competition started.
Congratulations to our Runners-Up: Isobel Haddow, Rona McAlister, Anne Marsh & all who subbed Unfortunately this rink has had to play with only 3 permanent members as the lead withdrew close to the start of the season and no other players could commit to playing regularly.
The next 2 Thursdays will be our Pairs Competition. 2 sessions next week and the final on Thursday 7th December. I'm sure that the ladies who end up in the final would appreciate the support from any members who would like to come and watch on the day.
Finally, please remember that the Geordie Watson club bonspiel will be on Monday 18th December and is our Christmas celebration with a meal to follow the curling.
Merle will be contacting the ladies to boost numbers and we will assist John Duncan and members of the club committee to ensure that this competition is as much fun as it has been in previous years.
Hope to see lots of lady members there.
