Hi Ladies,
The Lesmahagow Curling AGM took place last night, Tuesday 12th April, in Lanarkshire Ice Rink.
Thank you to those who attended.
We raised several things on your behalf which had been discussed at the Ladies' AGM and I'd like to pass on the information here.
Reserve Fees
It was decided that it would be reasonable to charge curlers who play as a reserve in club competitions, £2 now, instead of £1.
Although we discussed a possible fee of £4 at the Ladies' AGM, it was decided that it would be unnecessary to raise it to this level based on the club's bank balance and on the effect that a larger fee might have on our match secretary's ability to persuade people to come along to reserve.
Hopefully, raising the fee to £2 will give us a little more income without there being any detrimental effect to the smooth running of our competitions.
Club Membership Fees
These will remain at £15. Again, the club treasurer felt that raising the fees was unnecessary. He would appreciate members paying these fees on time, as the ice fees for our club are considerable and need to be paid early in the season
Club Clothing
It was decided that there is a need to order new club clothing. In addition to the quote received and circulated to lady members by email, the club would approach Glenmuir directly for information about the range of club clothing they could provide for us.
The club committee will circulate information to the members at the start of the season.
Club Committee
It was decided that, in these days of equality, we should have ladies on the Club Committee. From this year, the Ladies Section President and Secretary will sit on the Club Committee.
Dates for the Diary
The get together at the start of the season where you receive your fixture card for next year's competitions and get a chance to catch up with friends, will again be a car treasure hunt, meeting back at Hollandbush Golf Club for supper. This has been provisionally set for Friday 26th August.
The Club AGM was provisionally set for 18th April 2017
The Club Dinner and Prize Giving was provisionally set for Friday 7th April
Regards,
Rona
Lost Prize! John Veitch received a whisky glass as a prize at last Friday's dinner. Unfortunately, it has gone missing. Could you please check if you have taken John's glass home by mistake? There is a white sticker on the top of each box with the competition name on it and I have handwritten the winner's name on this label. If you have a 'Clay Medal' prize which says 'John Veitch', could you let me know. Thanks
